Ardee will host a performance by the top youth swing band in the North-East. The Groove Big Band, formed in 2006 from some senior students, past and present, of the Bailieboro School of Music, has gained a popular reputation for its enthusiastic, professional big band sound. The Groove Big Band has recently performed with the Bailieboro Youth Concert Band to a packed Helix concert hall. Both bands will visit Ardee at the invitation of Ardee Concert Band.
This is our fourth such venture. We previously hosted joint concerts, in 2000 with Mullingar Town Band and Lucan Concert Bands in a three band concert, in 2004 with the Norfolk Broads Concert Band and in 2007 with St Eugenes Concert Band from Omagh. These joint ventures are successful musically and in forging good band relations and friendships.
The concert will begin at 8pm with a short performance by the Concert Junior Band conducted by John Gaynor, followed by a performance by Ardee Concert Band Recorder Group conducted by Laura Jones. Also performing on the night will be the Senior Band conducted by Harry Kelly, the Bailieboro Youth Concert Band and the Groove Big Band conducted by Michael Gaskin. The finale of the concert will be a joint performance with Ardee and Bailieboro playing easy listening entertaining music such as Beachboys tunes, the Beatles, some Motown and many more. This concert is unmissable for those band lovers among you.
