Ardee Concert Band will give a recital from 2pm till 4pm in the gardens at Farmleigh House in the Phoenix Park on Sunday next the 29th of August. Although not strangers to this venue Ardee Concert Band feel very privileged to be invited to perform in Farmleigh as very few bands were invited this year. The Office of Public Works host several performances of musical groups or entertainers on Sunday afternoons during the summer months. It is a lovely venue says Fiona Reilly PRO of Ardee Concert Band. The gardens are beautiful and the recitals are very well attended with many people bringing their picnics, rugs and deck chairs although the Office of Public Works provide seating for the event. Based on the bands past experience, it is a lovely relaxed afternoon and weather permitting, the band members will bring their own picnic. All the band members are looking forward to it. Band rehearsals are resuming on Tuesday 25th after the summer break to prepare for this event.
The Junior Band under the direction of John Gaynor gave their first performance in the Fairgreen, Ardee, on Monday the 3rd of August as part of the Turfman Festival. This was a great achievement for these young people. Whilst they did perform at the church last summer, they were part of a recital given by the senior band, this time they were the main act. The weather was good and there was a large crowed due to other festival attractions. The senior band had performed the previous day at the battle enactment down the Riverside Walk.
All lessons are due to resume over the next few weeks, all students will be advised very shortly. The bands annual enrolment night will take place very soon, all the local schools and the local press will be notified as soon as date and time are agreed.
